Sarah

by Kathleen Higham

A meloncholy moment comes
Bringing an uninvited guest
The words that I have prayed for
Are lost and I am stressed.

This gift has taken me so high
But tonight I am feeling low
Wondering if it really matters
Lord I need You, need You so.

Longing for Your presence
A desire to write the story
I call on You once again
Promising my God the glory.

The words are not forthcoming
Have You left me here alone?
No, no You'll never leave me
My faith in You has grown.

Then I see her lovely name
My mind draws her face
We have touched so deeply
In her heart, her spiritual place.

I find her quite intriguing
The friend I've yet to see
I have come to love her
This woman God brought to me.

She tells me that it matters
Makes me promise to always share
Sarah, my sweet, sweet Sarah
I prayed and you were there.

It certainly is no accident
When at your name I stare
For I'm the one who needed you
Amazed that you would care.

Sarah, my sweet, sweet Sarah
Loving the sound of your name
Every time it greets my eyes
I thank God the day you came.
