Fair Maiden

by Patricia Joan Polhans

My tender, young maiden, come running to me
With arms outstretched, you've captivated me!
My heart is pounding; I must hold you close
And teach you my ways for I've loved you most!

Walk into the light, my fair, young maiden
Into my arms when you become heavy laden.
Let me kiss your lips with the morning dew
And caress your spirit 'til you cry, "I love you!"

May the rose petals fall softly to the ground
And you bathe in them 'til your body, they surround.
Restfully you'll lie there 'til the morning dew
Has softened your spirit that lies inside of you.

As the warm sunlight glistens through your hair
I cry out, "Fair maiden, I've become ensnared!"
Young maiden, with your beauty so sweet and fair
And your soft, tender body none can compare;

You saturate my senses like the tender young lilies
That blossom in spring in the tiny little gully.
Each time you pluck my heart's chords within
You capture my affections time and time again.

Oh, thank you, fair maiden you've returned to me,
Returned to the garden where you captured me!
