Earthen-colored autumn leaves
float gently to the ground,
whilst fallen leaves stirred by a breeze
make a swishing, rustling sound.
Days grow shorter, nights grow longer;
birds migrate to warmer climes.
Others build their nests much stronger,
warmer for the colder times.
In the fields the workers bind
sheaths of ripe and golden wheat.
Peaceful sleep these souls will find
for their labor's honest; sweet.
To rest the summer's being laid;
the winter's birth almost at hand.
Autumn's a season God has made
to bring forth change upon the land.
