"THE OTHER DISCIPLE DID OUTRUN PETER"

by Margaret Cagle

Mary Magdalene came to the sepulcher that day.
She saw that the stone had been rolled away.
Who rolled away that great big stone?
She saw that the body of Jesus was gone.

Away to Peter and John she ran.
"Come to the grave as fast as you can.
They've taken the body of our dear Master."
Then they all ran faster and faster.

They ran to the sepulcher, expecting the worst.
John outran Peter and got there first.
John recorded this fact in the Bible pages
For all to read down through the ages.

At the sepulcher, John stooped down to see
Jesus' grave clothes, but where was He?
"The other disciple, (John), saw, and he believed."
Now he remembered Jesus' words he'd received.

John ran faster to find his risen Master.
Should we do service for our Master faster?
He's coming back; let's do what we can
To tell the Gospel to each child, woman, and man.
