Time Will Come

by Kathleen Higham

Can I stop the fire burning?
No, not even if I die
For true love is eternal
When it changes, we cry.

Who could know or understand?
When love comes to claim
The risk, the pain so often there
Sometimes it even brings shame.

Love may weaken a tender heart
Dismantle every feeling, emotion
If we could, we'd stop it
As it stalls in slow motion.

There is nothing more intense
When to another we succomb
So often passion rules the heart
Completely devastating to some.

Love, there is no absolute answer
Most have felt the call
Love, the best, the worst, oh God
It is with certainty we fall.

But time will come, release us
Tears flow, to God we plead
Time will come, it surely will
Then crush this aching need.

Can I stop the fire burning?
No, nothing will ever fill
A woman broken cries to the Lord
How long will time stand still?

True love is eternal, but
Your suffering, it will end
And peace will come, He promised
When time becomes your friend.
