His Eyes

by Kathleen Higham

It is a mesmerizing thought
His eyes dart to and fro
Nothing ever passes by
That our Lord doesn't know.

His eyes range throughout the earth
Drawing the committed to Him
Even in their darkest hour
When life seems dismally dim.

A thousand years in Your sight
I know You look at me
Look at me, then love me
When I am too blind to see.

Though my heart, my flesh fail
Like a breeze that doesn't return
The wind will come, fan the fire
An ember glows to a steady burn.

You were my dwelling place
Before the mountains were born
Washed away the vilest sin
Crept into a heart forlorn.

You rule the surging sea
Your glance makes oceans still
My eyes search for You
Alone on the highest hill.

You come, sweep men away
In their sleep they will die
This time piece in the night
A last breath escapes in a sigh.

Under Your wings is my rescue
Having stood at death's door
I have cried a million tears
For eyes that look to me no more.

2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth...
