A Picture of Love

by Kathleen Higham

Another photo comes to me today
A friend believes God directs my way
I have read of these tragic years
When a race burned in fiery tears.

A chubby little arm before my eyes
An elderly woman breathes her sighs
She endured those days of doom
Lost babies God created in her womb.

Numbers etched brazenly on her skin
She cries to God to forgive her sin
An innocence betrays a love so true
Never left the only God she knew.

The Star of David on the page
Portrays an evil man and his rage
So many years have passed us by
Remember how heartless they would die.

The picture speaks of love Divine
Love from our God, another sign
That we must become as a child
This simple act cannot be defiled.

Even then love was all that mattered
Love to hold when all was shattered
Trusting Him, the Lord our God
He suffered too, the path He trod.

An elderly woman and a child
Love, true love is reconciled
Two hands lying side by side
His love once more glorified.

Two hearts intertwined, I see
When this picture came to me
A friend believes God directs my way
Oh but it be true, I solemnly pray.
