The Great Commission

by Lynne Howk © 2009

If I am filled with Love and He dwells in me,
And I claim to be a child of the Most High God,
If I doubt not the love displayed on Calvary,
Then I will obey Him, planting seeds where I trod.

Yet time and again I 'm in the midst of the mire,
Perplexed and confounded as to how I ultimately arrived,
My mind on myself, I'm oblivious to the gyre,
Unmoved by the fate of those who will not survive.

It's in Peniel that I travailed, surrendering all,
A reminder of my own life spared at the sight,
Of the Eternal One whose kingdom will never fall,
His Mercy so great, He sent his own precious Light

To save a dying world from their destructive ways,
Arming us to share the Good News all of our days.
