Redeeming the Time

by Margaret Cagle

If you are poor, or if you have wealth,
If you are sick, or you have good health,
What'er our lot, we're alike in one way.
We all have twenty-four hours in a day.

Of time, we all have the same amount.
What if we had to give God an account
Of all the time we waste every day?
We can't get it back; it's all gone away.

The Bible says to redeem the time.
Yes, it would surely be sublime
To spend time wisely to honor the Lord.
One day in Heaven, we'll get a reward.

We can walk by faith and not by sight,
Making sure we get our priorities right.
Let's put God first in all that we do,
And let's all use our time wisely too.
