Sunbeam

by Graeme Tunbridge © 2016

I'm walking on a sunbeam
Of mercy and of grace
Of providence and blessing
Right up to Heaven's gates

I'm walking on a sunbeam
A stream of light that shines
A path that's straight and narrow
A bright and slender line

I'm walking on a sunbeam
A bridge as strong as steel
I can't outlive provision
Marked with the Savior's seal

I'm walking on a sunbeam
Ascending far above
My shame below behind me
And all ahead is love

I'm walking on a sunbeam
I'm climbing Jacob's stairs
I'm all on earth forsaking
It's worries, doubts and cares

I'm walking on a sunbeam
My heart is full of cheer
The blood of Jesus heals me
And calms my every fear

I'm walking on a sunbeam
I walk through fire and snow
But Christ has gone before me
So onward Christian go!

I'm walking on a sunbeam
Though earth and hell withstand
Ahead I see Mount Zion
And Canaan's glorious land

I'm walking on a sunbeam
The heckling fiends pursue
But glowing town awaits me
A city clean and new

Then ends my walk of sunshine
I'm safe in heaven's gates
And all my joy forever
Is in His rapturous gaze
