Absolute Peace

by Kathleen Higham

Something we all search for
It skirts through the mind
A momentary blessing comes
If only we could find.

A perfect place inside us
Where absolute prevails
Needing this so badly
When all else fails.

There is only one conclusion
Having given it much thought
Absolute peace is fleeting
Even though earnestly sought.

I've felt it in my lifetime
Memories anchored to my soul
Then shatterred into pieces
What was once vibrant, whole.

Absolute peace, an illusion?
No, I believe it is real
Thank God for these moments
That allows a body to feel.

How could we survive life?
My heart cannot conceive
Warmth touching everywhere
Demands that I believe.

What God alone possesses
So incredibly designed
Absolute peace forevermore
When I leave this world behind.

I am running to absolute peace
Momentary. fleeting, elusive, true
Then I fall into His arms
Shedding every sorrow I ever knew.
