Symbols of Significance

A pair of symbols have my attention
as if there's a message to relay,
They continue to appear before me,
time after time, day after day.

I had seen these on many occasions
without giving them any thought,
Til the moment came that I realized
from these, scripture is taught.

Now one of the symbols is an arrow,
posed and seemingly ready to fly,
Pointing upward as giving a message
to keep my eye on the sky.

Not a weather check for conditions,
but things of a greater concern,
The bible says someday, perhaps a day
such as today, Jesus will return.

That second little symbol is an hour
glass designed to measure time,
Reminding that life may end suddenly
even before the clock can chime.

The last hour's past, gone forever,
never again to be part of my day,
Question is, did I make it worthwhile
or merely let it waste away?

They daily serve as reminders, these
little symbols that I see,
Saying, keep an eye on the sky, that
soon Jesus may return for me.

Time ticks away and only God knows
whether mine is almost gone,
Then if I saw Jesus in the clouds, I
will know I'm headed home.
