Wagging Tongues

by Margaret Cagle

We should wag our tongues for God's glory,
Telling someone about the Gospel story.
Jesus gave us a command to go and tell
Others of salvation and warn them of Hell.

When we wag our tongues in a bad way,
We displease God, and Him we disobey.
If we don't please God in what we say,
It will come back to trouble us one day.

With our tongues, we can tear others down.
On this kind of behavior, God will frown.
Some use bitter words that cut hearts.
Some curse or tell lies that pierce like darts.

We praise God with the same tongue that cursed
And try to show others that we put God first.
Sometimes we Christians use our tongues to sin.
We need to confess our sins and be cleansed within.
