Lord You Know Me

by Mark Henderson © 2016

Lord, you know me outside and within
You knew and formed me before I did begin
You've seen my beginnings and You know my end
You know everything about me and all I intend

You know my thoughts before I deliberate
You know my words before I can articulate
You know my steps before I wander
You know my feelings before the encounter
You know my goals before I plan them
You know my hopes before I can envision them
You know my heart in its first beat
You know my soul and my deepest keep
And You know my desire before I can lust
You know my weakness and what I do trust

Yes, Lord, You know me outside and within
You know and formed me before I did begin
You saw my beginning and You know my end
You know everything about me and what I intend

And so this knowledge should cause me concern
For the little I know and what I can discern
Is that I'm selfish and not the trusting child
Upon which you blessed and placed your smile
But of a mature and adult comprehension
In all that I see and give and show apprehension
And the heart You made with its feeling so tender
Now has its walls so that hurt none can render
So as I examine myself deep down and within
All that I see is nothing but sin

But, Lord, You know me outside and within
You knew and formed me before I did begin
You knew my beginning and You know my end
You know everything about me and even my sin

Romans 5:8ff "...in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation".
