Separation

Are you happy with your life
Is it going swimmingly?
Everything you've ever dreamed
Being perfect to a tee?
Do you go to church each week
Say the words and sing His praise?
Drink your coffee, have a chat
Then return to your malaise?
Perhaps your duty has been done
Cleared the decks of all your sin,
Then you can amass again
As many as you can fit in?

It seems a waste of time to me
Preferring worldly gain.
Life is short, there is an end
Then you'll feel the pain,
Of separation from your Lord
Who wanted you so much;
You chose the easy path to walk
Into the devil's clutch.
