by Kathleen Higham

Born into this world
Precisely when fear unfurled
Or possibly not so
Who could truly know?

Hours, days, months, years
Life unravels burning tears
Knowledge, pain, joy, love
Balance fleeting from above.

Searching but cannot cease
Skirts the very edge of peace
Elusions yet solidly there
Unable to just not care.

Time, study, earned a career
Trust, need, doubt, fear
Life, churns with desire
Success one could acquire.

Accomplishment others say
Work hard, then play.
Pride, honor, and respect
But deep down, neglect.

Neglect? Giving my all
Privately I slip and fall
In my weak place I go
Are you friend, or foe?

This life, a crucial test
Surrendered my very best
Surely there must be more
What am I here for?

Words-You know I tried
Words-God how I cried
Words-Fall at Your feet
Words, Your Words write
