His Kiss

by Kathleen Higham

A secret stillness with the Lord
In the waking hour of the day
Close the door to all distractions
And discipline yourself to pray.

Entering into a spiritual realm
Most assuredly you will find
God was waiting, waiting there
Planted firmly in your mind.

Open the door of your heart
Touch the serenity of this place
Where prayer is deliberate and real
Your thoughts smile upon His face.

His Spirit converses in your soul
The Father comes in sweet delight
Ushering in the quiet of early dawn
Embracing the warmth of His light.

Each morning harbors a love song
Remembering for all of these days
Words come, seek consciousness
Sing to Him that very first praise.

Open the door of your heart
Bring forth a willful prayer
Casting out wandering thoughts
Then intimately He will share.

Nothing can ever prepare you
For the exquisiteness of this
A secret stillness in the Lord
An inexplicable joy, then bliss.

Morning comes to sleepy eyes
With a moment we must not miss
As dreams tug gently at the heart
He stoops down to give a kiss.
