Extra Care

by Margaret Cagle

One time I went through a valley so low,
All I could feel was sorrow and woe.
I thought, "How can a Christian be depressed,
For I know that I am surely blessed."

My feelings only to God I shared.
I felt that no person really cared.
"Dear God, I guess I'm on my own,
But I know with You, I'm not alone."

Every time I went to God in prayer,
I asked, "How much do You really care?"
I was asking for a sign, I guess.
I wanted Him to hear me and bless.

One day I made a purchase at a store.
I used my discount card as I did before.
That day I was surely caught off guard,
For I read the words aloud on the card.

I had never noticed the words before,
Although I used my card at the store.
Aloud I read the words, "Extra Care."
The clerk just gave me a little glare.

Then everyone around me in that line
Looked at his card as I did mine.
"Extra Care!" two others in line said.
Then the clerk just nodded his head.

I turned and gave all a smile just then,
And all responded with a smile or a grin.
God gave me a profound answer that day.
"My Child, 'Extra Care' is always My way."
