Time

by Brett Barton

I often hear people say that we have nothing but time
But as I sit here today thinking, I hear the bells chime
That ringing tells the tale that time is slowly running out
I am reminded of that every day, without a doubt

Have I wasted too much time on things that matter not
Is there still time to cherish the things that can't be bought
Always wondering as I try to put the past to bed
Never taking chances for fear of what lies ahead

I think back to the all time that I wasted in the past
How all of those things we take for granted go way too fast
I wish sometimes I could take all of that lost time back
Piling them all together just to see the enormous stack

But I realize that all of that time is not really a complete loss
All of that time, now looking back did lead me to the cross
It took all of those things that stole my precious time away
To finally make me realize where it is I wanted to stay

I am here now trying to do better things with my life
Helping people overcome periods of darkness and strife
I am doing what I was meant to be doing for the first time
And I see a brighter future coming, so chime bells chime
