I see God today

by Brett Barton

I started the morning off, in somewhat of a daze
My life at the moment, in such a crazy phase
I have prayed and prayed, for God to come and lead
All the while never opening my eyes to see

So I thought to myself, where to go from here
I'm tired of living my life, under this blanket of fear
So I dropped to my knees, one more time to pray
I asked God to allow me to see him today

I feel a gentle breeze, blowing leaves to the ground
Birds singing softly, with a sweet cheerful sound
With every warm hand shake, and kind friendly smile
I realize I haven't felt this good, in a very long while

Looking around the corner, the kids have begun to play
So many things are making this a truly special day
The warmth of the sun, shining on my face
I can begin to see why God put me in this very place

We gather here in fellowship, to celebrate this Thanksgiving
Good food, great friends and small town country living
And to all of the beautiful people, that sit in front of me
Listening to this poem that God has given to me

There is a message in these words, if you choose to listen and hear
The more I sit and watch each of you, it all becomes so clear
God created all of the things I see before my eyes
All of you, even me, everything from dirt to sky

He made it all very special, just for you and me
All you have to do is look around, and you too can see
Good is God, God is great, and he is around us all the time
In everything you see and hear, even in these words that rhyme

So I will give thanks to God today, for his awesome grace
And for allowing you and I, to be together in this place
You see I wanted for God to answer as I kneeled down to pray
I got my answer loud and clear, I see God in all of you today
