Rosa's Last Witness for Christ

by Margaret Cagle

In a hospital bed, dear Miss Rosa lay.
She was surprised to be here another day.
On her body, cancer had taken its toll,
But Rosa knew it was well with her soul.

The night nurse came to give out meds.
Rosa's was the last one of all her beds.
The nurse sat down in a chair by her bed.
"Why are you so cheerful," the nurse said.

"Well, it is really all about knowing
The final place where I'll be going.
I know where I'm heading; I'm going soon
Beyond the stars, the sun, and the moon."

"I'm going to Heaven just anytime now."
"Rosa, could you please show me how?"
Rosa quoted Scriptures to the nurse, Sue.
Sue bowed her head and accepted Christ too.

Sue came to work the very next day.
Rosa was gone; they had taken her away.
She passed away sometime last night.
Sue knew where Rosa had taken her flight.

Sue stopped a moment and bowed her head.
"Thanks, God, for sending Rosa," she said.
"You sent dear Rosa to show me the way,
So I'll meet You and Rosa in Heaven one day."
