A Bible And A Red-Red Rose

by Margaret Cagle

In a steel-gray coffin his body lay.
His public viewing would be today.
"What can I put in his hands," asked she
"That he would want everybody to see?"

She placed his Bible in his right hand
To show others where his faith did stand.
A red rose she placed in his hand also.
It stood for the love he shared below.

With a Holy Bible and a red-red rose,
A public testimony of love he shows.
Death can't swallow the results of love,
For love comes from our Father above.

Red can stand for the blood Jesus shed
Upon the cross, but He didn't stay dead.
Arisen from the dead, Jesus paved the way
To see our saved loved ones one glad day.
