The In Between

by Robert Hedrick © 2016

From the start to the finish, from the
beginning to the end,
There's a lifetime of living and a lot
of things to comprehend.
Some bring in a measure of pleasure,
others a cloud of grief,
Arriving as a loyal friend or perhaps,
as a lowly thief.

There could be a ton of love or an
ample amount of hate,
Yet pure love will help wipe the hate
right off the slate.
There's a possibility that wealth may
arrive at an incredible rate,
Still there's a chance for poverty with
little on the dinner plate.

Some days could bring problems that
cause anxiety and despair,
Lingering on through time to leave a
touch of gray in the hair.
All is not lost as the window of hope
opens letting in life's Light,
Bringing new beginnings to shut out
the old with a clearer sight.

Then angels rejoice as a new name's
put into place,
A soul's lifted from the flames with a
victory for this human race.
So from the start of life til the finish,
from the beginning to the end,
If along the way, Jesus is invited in, it
departs on an upward trend.
