A Heaven Bound Possession

by Robert Hedrick © 2016

Okay senior citizen, you have reached a ripe old age,
As you look back on those memories, page by page.
Recalling the successes you gathered over the years,
At times receiving a round of applause with cheers.

With success, there was little that money couldn't buy,
If you wanted it, it's for sale, the price's never too high
Such as the house you live in, with one on the beach,,
A mountain condo that has a view that's out of reach.

You drive expensive cars that most drive in their dream,
Whatever you buy, it is said that you go to the extreme..
With all you have the world sees a very successful man,
Yet there's a question to answer as truthfully as you can.

Concerning a possession you may haven't yet acquired,
This being an important one that may soon be required.
It is one that your money can not buy, for it's a gift to you,
Paid for by One in an act of love, as none other could do.

It's the salvation needed when bidding this life goodbye,
The only thing getting you into heaven, so no need to try.
Far more important than all else you're able to achieve,
Make certain that it's a part of your life before you leave.
