What will Your Obituary Say?

by George Cuff
http://throughthebibleinpoetry.blogspot.com

The day will come when you lay down your life and the obituary is shared,
Will there be grace to write about and people for whom you cared?
Will it speak of professional pride and achievements in which you excelled?
Will it affirm how well you provide and the stories you used to tell?

When it is time for you to go home, what will acquaintances say?
Will they speak of the hills you roamed and the games you liked to play?
Will they speak of times at the club; friendly wagers on the greens?
There may be some who clearly remember all the way back to your teens.

When that day comes when life is over, what will your family say?
Will your spouse remember with love the joy of your wedding day?
Will your children gather around remembering a special event
Where your presence helped them feel warmly loved and content?

On the day death comes for you, what will Eternal God say?
Will He receive you as His son or will he say, "Go away."
Will He remember the day you knelt asking Jesus to be your Lord
Imparting the Spirit, changing your heart, preparing an eternal reward?

Man is a sinner. That is a fact. Nothing can make that untrue.
This life is not a one-act play where it matters not what you do.
You have this life as a precious gift to choose God's proposition.
Choose wisely, my friend, for on that day, it's God or the opposition.
