Just Not Done

by Kathleen Higham

His eyes fluttered during the prayer
Maybe the strongest man I've met
Or could it be God's perfect will?
He is not done with Jerry yet.

His struggles though insurmountable
Understanding seems a total loss
His wife, well, she is simply amazing
Stands at the foot of the Cross.

Her education is in the medical field
But her faith is what she wears
When a husband labors to survive
His burdens relentless, she shares.

Her time of trial is overwhelming
Strength comes from God, her friend
It's an honor to know this woman
And the man she loves without end.

His heart, the heart of a giant
A Grandpa to every little one
Whatever the plan for this gentle soul
I believe God is just not done.

His, hers, and God's plan
This is absolutely incredible to me
Every breath that stirs the air
It is God, loving this family.

God in His infinite mercy
Held Jerry's hand when he cried
Even now He holds him close
Not for a moment did He leave his side.

God, He is oh so faithful
Sending to us His only Son
He will never forsake this lovely man
Because God is just not done.
