The Call

by Deborah Smith Plemmons © 2018

"Pastor, I'm discouraged;
What's there to live for?"
He doesn't hesitate;
He hurries out the door.

"Pastor, I need help;
A bill needs paid."
Sometimes, out of his pocket,
He comes to their aid.

"Pastor, this is me;
My friend is quite ill."
He prays for healing;
Asking for God's will.

"Pastor, I'm calling;
There's been an accident."
He goes to the hospital;
Prayers to God are sent.

"Pastor, my loved one
Is at death's door."
He quickly gets dressed;
In the a.m., it's around four.

The Call: at any hour,
He will help them all.
For many years ago,
He heeded to God's call.
