God Bless Us

by Kathleen Higham

God bless us as the Bamboo tree
When the spirit fails to grow
Press us deep into the ground
Let His Seed empower and flow.

Overwhelmed with pain, despair
Bound tight with no relief
Raise your hands to the Lord
Pray for help in our unbelief.

Years may pass-time stands still
It seems we have not grown
But beneath us roots of hope
From the seed that was sown.

Roots strong and sturdy now
The tree soars through the sky
God lifted up those tender shoots
To the heavenly realm on high.

God bless us as the Bamboo tree
That acknowledges her fate
Trusting in God for the dream
Then patiently she will wait.

The dream to bind forever
When stilled at last we heard
As the angels lowered their wings
For the promise in His Word.

The dream became a vision
In the Scripture for all to see
Our Father God longs to bless us
As He blessed the Bamboo tree.
