Why?

by Kathleen Higham

Patience always eluded me
Needing to understand why
I want the answer now
But knowledge passes me by.

Wondering can become a burden
When the question is denied
Wait, wait on Me, He says
Then my weary heart sighed.

It surely is a matter of trust
Your greatness I shall seek
As the why and now flits away
Surrendering, broken and weak.

There may not be an answer
But I believe You know
The why, the now, not yet
So on my knees, I go.

I pray for her, the healer
And all that fills her mind
That the why and now comes
In the answer she would find.

So remember the lesson
When all else may fail
If something cannot be known
Then to our God we hail.

Only God knows everything
On that day we finally meet
The why and now won't matter
For the answer lies at His feet.
