Covered

by Donna Hendrix

Night time overcame the day
In a cloudy dusk, overcast and gray
A single white speck fell from the sky
Almost too tiny for the naked eye
Little by little the lacy specks multiplied
Silently and elegantly they did glide
For hours snowflakes fell to the ground
A little piece of heaven falling earthward bound
The landscape lay snuggled in a blanket of white
As snowflakes danced on a moonless night
Mother Nature dressed in her most elegant array
Awaiting moonbeams to glisten off of snow covered clay
And for a short time the world lay solemn and still
Snowflakes covered even the ugliness from valley to hill
Just as God's pure sweet love covers our crimson sins
And makes us white as snow when His Spirit lives within.
