A Day's Worth

by Robert Hedrick

In my attempt to measure the value of a day, I find it's quite a chore,
Before I am finished with one positive thought, there are many more.
For just one day can mean so much to so many and in so many ways,
As I try to measure it's value, not knowing the true role it plays.

There's difficulty in measuring a day that's brought joy to some places,
Where hope has replaced despair, putting smiles back on many faces.
Bringing to them good news, where bad news had prevailed for so long,
With coming opportunities, to once again make their economy strong.

Then a day that's used to witness to the lost, is a valuable one indeed,
For they are given to Christians to be used in sowing The Godly seed.
There was a special day in each of their lives, as Jesus gained control,
When He removed the sinful impurities, blocking the portals of their soul.

If we lose a coin, there's a possibility that eventually it will be found,
But if we lose a day, rest assured, that never again will it come around.
When we fail to add something worthwhile to a day, then much has been lost,
Then, in standing before God and facing eternity, we'll learn of this cost.
