God The Mover

by Robert Hedrick

It must be faith that moves my mountain
because nothing else could,
Though other steps were taken, still the
troublesome mountain stood.

They only brought disappointment instead
of the help that was needed,
Continuing to loom before me til I almost
felt that I'd been defeated.

This mountain was my dilemma, thinking I
could handle it on my own,
Yet in only a matter of time, instead of
being solved, it had grown.

This is when foolish pride began to hide
the truths stored in my heart,
Those pointing to The Mover of mountains
Who could give me a new start.

Pride blinded my eyes and blocked my mind
to this truth I knew was there,
Those promises God had made me whenever
I put my life into His care.

Saying He'd never leave or forsake me and
move those mountains I faced,
That His plans would never fail,
unlike those I'd so recklessly chased.

Then eventually The Light came on and I
realized the mistakes I'd made,
That was when I decided to turn to God
and on Him, my burden I laid.

My faith in Him is continually growing
and my situation is improving,
Although it's not completely gone today,
God has my mountain moving.
