Anticipation

by Kathleen Higham

So often I will anticipate
Forgetting God's plan for me
There are so many promises
That we all have failed to see.

Everything beyond our mind
That hasn't happened yet
Has been paid in full by Him
Jesus canceled every debt.

Once again I anticipate
Then embrace anxious fear
Trials may come each morning
But eventually they disappear.

God has chosen the weak
If you listen to His command
The unknown will lose its power
When at last we understand.

Sometimes we will falter
Especially in our demise
The foolish things of the world
Will put to shame the wise.

So hold on to His promise
"I will give you every place
Where you set your foot," He said.
"But first you must run the race."

For if God can delay the sunset
Hold still the moon in the sky
The world will hold its breath
Then hear His contented sigh.

Can you fill your imagination?
With all of God's creation
The debt was paid before its due
Defining this word--anticipation…
