The Narrow Road

by Kathleen Higham

Bring me down, down, Lord
Feel my lowly heart pound
I have lost the cutting edge
Lay prostrate on the ground.

Victory, victory fills the air
In worship that screams power
Love cries out! Lord, Lord!
Come to me where I cower.

Let me lean, lean into You
Then see the back of Your heel
Walking down the narrow road
Knowing that You are real.

I want to go deep, deep, Lord
Becoming radical for You
Embrace an extreme devotion
These things I pray to do.

How weak must I truly be?
To believe in the uncreated
Who on a dark and anxious day
Accepted that to which He was fated.

Now I've found the cutting edge
For You have carried the load
Reaching out to take Your Hand
Lord, walk me down the narrow road.

Matthew 7:13
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."
