To Be As Paul

by Donna Hendrix

Pray we all learn to be as the apostle Paul
For he daily lived with troubles but found the key
Paul learned contentment in any circumstance;
For he knew God is ever present and forever will be

Over the years Paul was ridiculed and insulted
Persecuted, beaten, and jailed
And as he persevered, his trust only grew
And providentially, his faith never failed

Through all his trials he learned that God
Would always be there to provide
Never would he have to endure alone
The struggles and strife he had to abide

Paul grew in strength through adversity
And saw that troubles brought Christ very near
Paul found that he was weak, but God was strong
And with the Lord by his side he had nothing to fear

He began to accept that all things come from God
The good, the bad, and the in between
He learned that through triumph and adversity
All things work for good, though by us, not always seen

His relationship with Christ did flourish
As on the Savior he did totally depend
And Paul's life sets an example for us all
For with Christ there is nothing for which we can't contend
