Dear God

by Donna Hendrix

Dear God,

As I take time to look back over this past year
My relationship to you has become so very dear
I can't wait for each and every day to start
To gather your words of hope and inspiration to my heart

You are the rock that I stand upon
This unbreakable Father, daughter bond
I never knew what real joy meant
Until I fully accepted what heaven sent

There were regrets that I had not lived my best
But as a young Christian , I had just left the nest
Walking straight for a while, then stumble and fall
Gathering and learning from it all

I see the culmination of years of joy and pain
None would I change; not for all I've gained
Living life under the shelter of your wing
I would not trade for anything

As we prepare our Christmas eve celebration
I thank you for your gift of reconciliation
My life would mean nothing on this earth
If not for your precious baby boy's birth!

Love,
Your Daughter
