The Backslider's Food

by Margaret Cagle

The story of the prodigal son
Is an oft' repeated story.
The Devil offers a good time
With sin and its false glory.

Far countries may lure Christians
Where they can have lots of fun.
At first they eat expensive steak,
Rare, medium rare, or well done.

The backslider will get fooled
When the good times come to an end.
He finds himself in a pig pen
With no money and not a friend.

The backslider then eats pig food
Like corn husks and even slop.
He should've stayed with his Father
Where blessings can come non-stop.

Stay with your Father, O Christian
And seek to do His divine will.
Eat spiritual food at His table.
Corn husks make a terrible meal!
