To His Light

by Kathleen Higham

The sun sinks down, down
Shadows of night come round
Weary eyes flutter, close, close
Drift in the absence of sound.

A final prayer lifted to Him
As peace inspires sweet repose
Resting beneath His pinions
Till the rising sun returns, glows.

The morning opens her book
To He who is the Light
A soul yearns, again, again
To speak of Him, and write.

Stillness beckons to those, His
That seeks the Word to share
From darkness till the dawn
The Father God was there.

The sun sinks down, down
Shadows of night come round
But those who belong to Him
Know they are heaven bound.

Weary eyes flutter, close, close
Drift in the absence of sound
Wait, wait, He is soon to come
With all the saints He has found.

On the clouds, He walks
Never again shall light retreat
Higher, higher, lifted up to Him
Until at last we shall meet.

The morning opens her book
As we fly to heaven's door
Carried beneath His wings of love
To His Light, a shield and buckler
To His Light, Forevermore…

Psalm 91:4
"He shall cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler."
