Oh Pity to the One

by Kathleen Higham

Oh pity to the one
Through tearing eyes of pain
Unbeknownst, He held you
There beside you He had lain
You did not know.

Oh pity to the one
Whose burden brings so low
For every broken heart
He left a path to follow
You did not know.

Oh pity to the one
Who simply will not fall
Then wait for Him to come
When He hears your call
You did not know.

Oh pity to the one
That claims he never knew
Even felt God's presence there
How He longed to carry you
You did not know.

Oh pity to the one
Who cried and asked Him in
Now a hardened heart remained
Holding on to every sin
You did not know.

Oh pity to the one
Who said at last, "I believe"
But the soul did not surrender
And continued to deceive
You did not know.

Oh pity to the one
Who willingly walked away
From all that ever mattered
Bound by the pleasures of today
You did not know.

Oh pity to the one
When all was said and done
If deep inside you knew
Yet still rejected the Son
Oh pity to the one.
