Lean

by Kathleen Higham

Now all of us need to lean
At some time or another
A brother, sister, lover, friend
As for me, it was my mother.

My mother is in heaven
But from His Book, I glean
Close my eyes and picture Him
Arms open wide for me to lean.

Oh, the sweetness of it all
When standing by His side
My mother leans against Him
Envisioning her life, I cried.

I think that I shall never see
The blood shed on that very tree
When in agony, He cried
"Daughter, lean on Me."

So if the burden is unbearable
Remember the path He trod
Then lean, trust, be still
And know that He is God.

Psalm 46:10
"Be still and know that I am God."
