Remember The Quaking Aspen

by Margaret Cagle

I was visiting another state
When I saw an unusual tree.
A more interesting tree,
I will probably never see.

The slightest breeze can blow,
And its leaves begin to shake.
When other trees stand steady,
This tree just seems to quake.

It is called a quaking aspen.
It shakes on just a whim.
It seems so very unsettled
In every branch and limb.

Are we like quaking aspens?
Do we lack deep peace within?
Does a slight issue upset us?
Over all chaos, can we win?

Let us turn to God for peace.
He can place it in our hearts,
Even when Satan unsettles us
With his wiles and evil darts.

Remember the quaking aspen
When you're in a nervous way.
May God give us needed peace
Every hour of every day.
