Christopher Was Here

For a child that went away
And he was always searching
For a loving place to stay
And everywhere that Christopher went
He left his presence there
For he lived his life joyfully
As if he had no care
Many times we have wondered
All that he could have done
But God said I will take him now
And he will be my son
But it was hard to understand
So God gave us a sign
A tiny little hummingbird
Gave us peace that Chris was fine
Yes we saw this delicate creature
One quiet and thought filled day
His tiny wings fluttering furiously
What is it he's trying to say
A peaceful moment came to us
As we stared at that little bird
And Chris was present in our heart
When the voice of God was heard
Chris is here with Me dear ones
Then that hummingbird went away
Leaving lingering thoughts of Christopher
Knowing we'll all see him someday
Lord thank you for that little bird
That You bring to us year after year
With memories of a precious boy
Tiny wings whispering Christopher was here
