Jesus Died In Our Stead

by Margaret Cagle

"Should I release unto you Jesus?"
Pilate asked the Jews that day.
"Crucify Him!" Crucify Him!"
He heard the angry crowd say.

"According to your Passover custom,
One prisoner should be released."
"Release the prisoner, Barabbas
For this Jewish Passover feast."

Now Barabbas was a sinful robber,
But to his freedom, he was led.
They took the sinless Son of God
And crucified Him in his stead.

We are all like unto Barabbas.
We are each one guilty of sin,
And the wages of sin is death,
But Jesus died for all men.

Our sins condemn us to Hell.
By Jesus our sin debt was paid.
He died and shed His blood for us.
In a tomb, His body was laid.

Praise God! On the third day,
Jesus arose from the grave!
If you put your trust in Him,
Your soul, Jesus can save!
