God's Promise

I've lost my friend
My mate my dear
It feels so still
And quiet here

Early mornings when I awake
Reaching out to feel his touch
Remembering with shocking pain
And I miss him oh so much

How can I live without this man
With whom I've spent my life
For he was sweet and gentle
And God let me be his wife

Looking back I marvel
At this man who protected me
I close my eyes and wish for him
But his face I cannot see

And many nights I cry aloud
God what have You done
It's dark and lonely here
Waiting for the sun

When morning comes a heavy sigh
Give me strength today
Lift me up remembering
My husband has gone away

Lord touch my broken shattered heart
Until You come for me
And bring me to the man I love
As You promised forever we'll be
