He Chose Us

by Kathleen Higham

How small and pitiful
Our lives would be
If we chose for ourselves
And our hearts would not see

For our Lord and our Savior
Has given us this choice
With divine intercession
The angels rejoice

Now we did not choose
Or longingly seek
His glorious face
Because we are so weak

But He in His wisdom
Knew where we would go
And His blood splattered feet
Leaves a path to follow

So look up to the heavens
Look down to His feet
Look back to the cross
And there we will meet

He is our Lord and Savior
But we chose Him not
By His pain and rejection
Our sins have been bought

Yes He groans in His pain
He moans to intercede
We're His chosen people
And yes He will lead

For it has been written
For thousands of years
And His cross at Calvary
Bore His endless tears

As He breathed in His last
In a heartbeat He chose
And our sins were forgiven
Then miraculously He rose
