The sky was black and sullen
Frowning with dark unease
The seabirds sadly crying
Within the manic breeze.
The gloomy air was breathing
And rasping with portent
The seascape's apprehension
To see the sky's descent.
The wind picked up and venting
It's wrath upon the sea
The rollers rolling larger
So loud and wild and free.
But on the far horizon
A tiny patch of blue
Gave hope a tiny prospect
A likely different view.
The sea was slowly calming
To see the wind reduce
The azure sky increasing
As nature called a truce.
And we have gloomy portent
Of things that chill our hearts
Where hope is disappearing
And fearfulness imparts.
We view the stormy waters
With sadness and dismay
But God also knew sadness
When man would have his way.
Israel ignored the prophets
And crucified His Son
Christ's Blood His heart was bleeding
At what poor man had done.
This horror was the opening
Salvation's gift to all
Perfection through the darkness
That on the world would fall.
His cross and resurrection
Would see blue in the sky
And point to the salvation
That all may now apply.
The wonder of the story
That when we're feeling pain
He too has felt our sorrow
His love to break our chain.
How can we do without Him?
His wonder-working love
When skies are dark and baleful
But all is right above!
