"Make me as holy
As a pardoned sinner can be"
Was the cry of McChyene
On his bended knee
Here was a young preacher
Who knew what it was
To be filled by the Spirit
And to walk close with God
"Make me as holy
As a pardoned sinner can be"
This was what his people
Needed most to see
So he rose up early
To seek the face of God
And found the One
With whom his soul loved.
"Make me as holy
As a pardoned sinner can be"
A holy weapon in Gods hand
Was what he longed to be
And such a weapon he became
As God did answer prayer
With many finding Jesus
Through his loving care
"Make me as holy
As a pardoned sinner can be"
This young Scottish minister
Knew Gods Word could set him free
And free he was to work for God
And serve Him all day long
And then at last to be called home
Where he would meet his Lord
Thank you Heavenly Father
For this dear man of God
Whose life was such an example
Of one who loved His Lord
I cannot think of a greater prayer
From which to come from me
Than to make me as holy
As a pardoned sinner can be
