I Run a Race

by Mark Henderson

I run a race
And I'll never stop
Though sick and tired
I will not drop
For the race is life
And its price gold
To every creature
To all His fold
Trials they come
Tribulations don't cease
This is my calling
This is my peace
So give me its pain
And make it increase
Overwhelm my being
With all its tease
For it has no power
Nor hold on these
My soul to chain
My hope to seize
For there is One higher
Much higher I believe
Than pain and suffering
Than hate and disease
And it's He I'll trust
Through thick and thin
Through all its flailing...
Till He come again.
