Though Christ is my Saviour my flesh remains weak,
I wrestle with sin and my outlook is bleak,
Sometimes it's so dark it's impossible to see,
I feel that it's easier to be better than me.
I continue to fall and stumble through life,
It seems I'm addicted to trouble and strife,
Forgetting the Lord though he's right there to see,
It's not very hard to be better than me.
I do all the things I ought not to do,
Despite knowing the Word is sacred and true,
I forgot Jesus came to set captives free,
I know everybody's better than me.
But God is forgiving ever faithful and just,
His heart breaks for me though I'm nothing but dust,
Jesus died for my sin, he paid the high fee,
But the least among many is better than me.
So Saints learn the lesson and open your heart,
Read and study the Word to achieve a good start,
Pray without ceasing and be all you can be,
Maybe one day even I can be better than me!
