The Resurrection and the Life

by Bettina Van Vaerenbergh

The Savior suffered and died on the cross,
And the third day He rose from the grave.
Jesus willingly drank the cup He was given,
Because the whole world was sin's slave.

Jesus was dead, and now He lives forever;
He overcame sin and death by His sacrifice.
If we believe in Him and we are baptized —
We are reborn as a new creature in Christ!

Christ Jesus is Himself the Resurrection,
And Christ Jesus, He is also the Life…
He alone is able to raise believers up —
From spiritual deadness and worldly strife.

Whosoever lives and believes in His name,
Jesus says, they shall never ever die!
Eternal life belongs to those who trust in Him;
God is always true, His Word cannot lie.

Jesus will raise Christians up on the last day;
Because He lives forever, you and I will live too.
Death has lost its power, its vicious sting;
It's only death's shadow we're passing through.

To have a certain hope beyond the grave —
Oh, how much our good God has blessed us!
New life, a future, a heavenly inheritance —
They are ours, and we have it all in Jesus!
